George Rigg
(Eastern District) Born at Crochmore, Kirkpatrick Irongray, Kirkcudbrightshire, 19th July 1814, the son of George Rigg and Isabel Caven; ordained a priest, 9th June/25th July 1838, and left for Scotland, 31st July 1838; worked in St. Mary’s, Edinburgh, 1838-78 (except for eight years in Perth, 1856-64) and made vicar general, 1877; on restoration of hierarchy, nominated Bishop of Dunkeld and consecrated in Scots College, Rome, by Cardinal Howard, 26th May 1878; died in Perth, 18th January 1887.
